Fate of quantum black holes

چکیده
We study the quantum dynamics of Lema\^{\i}tre-Tolman-Bondi space-times using a polymer quantization prescription based on loop cosmology that incorporates fundamental discreteness. By solving an effective equation derived from this quantization, we find analytical solutions for Oppenheimer-Snyder and thin-shell collapse models, numerical variety asymptotically flat collapsing dust profiles. Our (i) tracks formation, evolution, disappearance dynamical horizons, (ii) shows matter undergoes nonsingular bounce results in outgoing shock wave, (iii) determines black hole lifetime to be proportional square its mass, (iv) provides conformal diagram substantially modifies standard ``information loss'' picture by resolving singularity replacing event horizon transient apparent horizons.

Evaporation and fate of dilatonic black holes.
We study both spherically symmetric and rotating black holes with dilaton coupling, and discuss the evaporation of these black holes via Hawking’s quantum radiation and their fates. We find that the dilaton coupling constant α drastically affects the emission rates, and therefore the fates of the black holes. When the charge is conserved, the emission rate from the non-rotating hole is drastica...

In this thesis we study two quantum aspects of black holes, their entropy and the Hawking effect. First, we present a model for the statistical interpretation of black hole entropy and show that this entropy emerges as a result of missing information about the exact state of the matter from which the black hole was formed. We demonstrate that this idea can be applied to black holes made from bo...

I review the recent progress in providing a statistical foundation for black hole thermodynamics. In the context of string theory, one can now identify and count quantum states associated with black holes. One can also compute the analog of Hawking radiation (in a certain low energy regime) in a manifestly unitary way. Both extremal and nonextremal black holes are considered, including the Schw...
